Pride Data Solutions is a policy think tank incorporated April 14, 2009 in Uganda (East Africa). The firm is dedicated to providing cost effective, timely and quality Socio-economic Research; project monitoring and evaluation; training/coaching services; Strategic management consultancy services to our clients.

Our dedicated Staff provides research and technical services to governments, non-government organisations, civil society organisations, Community Based Organisations and businesses in areas of health, education, poverty, agriculture, food security, sanitation & Water, personnel, trade, industry, business management, banking, distribution, marketing, selling etc.

PDS engages in research with the goal of inspiring socio-economic transformation and development. PDS aspires to be the ultimate research firm in the East African region with international engagements to enhance sustainable development through advancing action oriented research results for policy and decision of all development stakeholders in the region.

Management

Alexander Rubanga

Executive Director

Alex holds a Master of Arts in International Trade Policy & Law. He also holds aBachelor of Arts (Hons) in Social Work & Social Administration. An International trade Expert trained in Geneva-Switzerland by the World Trade Organization as well as Rules of Origin Expert trained in Stockholm-Sweden, Cape town-South Africa, Shangai-China as well as Brussels-Belgium.

He is currently the Executive Director at Pride Data Solutions with over 18 years experience in strategic Planning, tax administration reforms,management,working with donors and coordinating projects. He was instrumental in the development of Pride Data Solutions corporate strategic frameworks.

He has also worked at URA as the Head of international Affairs Incharge of WTO, WCO, COMESA and EAC. Prior; he also worked as a Station Manager and a Tariff Officer. He is also been a Key person of the negotiating committee representing Uganda on the Tripartite FTA and the Continental FTA where he has chaired a number of Sessions. He has also been part of many International Technical working groups as well as a member of many Trade committees.

He is also a Trainer Accreditated by the World Customs Organization and he has trainedRules of Origin, TBT, NTBs, Tax regimes and the harmonizedSystem in 10 Countries over the globe.

Alex has also worked as a Consultant for the World Bank, UNCTAD, JICA, COMESA, EACand Mendel Verlag a firm based in Germanyas Border Operations and a Trade Facilitation Expert.

He has done research in international trade, trade facilitation and regional integration.

Julius Kugonza

Director Strategy

Julius is a PMP with a Masters degree in Economic Policy and a Bachelors degree in statistics from Makerere University, Uganda. He is also a trade policy design, analysis and Negotiation fellow from the University of Adelaide – Australia.Julius has also attended other international training Programmes at the University of Cape Town-South Africa, African Training Institute in Ebene Mauritius and the Academy of International Business Officials(AIBO) in Beijing China.

He is currently the Director Strategy at Pride Data Solutions. He is the technical lead for the Research and Evaluations Unit.

Julius currently works with Uganda Revenue Authority as a Customs Statistician and manages international trade data. He also worked with Uganda Cares-AHF as a Data Manager where he participated in the development and review of data collection tools, supervised data collection as well as data analysis on the test and treat project. He began his career as a Field Team leader with Uganda Bureau of statistics where he worked on different socio-Economic surveys.

Julius also currently works as a Consultant-Trade Statistics Trainer with Japan International corporation Agency (JICA) on a project for the introduction of the harmonized system in South Sudan. He has also worked as a Trade Expert at the East African Community-EAC and a Consultant at the Common market for East and Southern-COMESA.

He has done research on Trade facilitation, Regional Integration and food Security in sub Saharan Africa and presented policy research papers in Italy, Philippines, Ethiopia, Kenya and Zambia.

Paulinus Tiromwe

Trade Expert

Paulinus is an International Trade Expert. He is a Time Release Study Expert accreditated in Brussels Belgium by World Customs Organisation as WCO Customs Technical and Operational Advisor in the field of Time Release Studies.

He is also a Senior Statistician.He has over 29 years of experience serving in various capacities in the corporate and trade consultancy space. Paulinus has facilitated and undertaken TRS studies, trained and supervised customs staff of various countries on TRS studies on the African Continent and Asia. He has consulted with Trade Mark, EAC, COMESA, and the WorldBank. In his corporate journey, He worked with Uganda Revenue Authority as the Project Manager for the National Electronic Single Window in Uganda;Head of the Data collection Office in Internal Revenue Department, Head of the Business Analysis Section, Head of the Customs Planning Section; Customs Department, Member of the Customs ASYCUDA Project Team;Head of the Customs Statistics Office.

Paulinus is currently a Trade Expert at Pride Data Solutions.He is also a reputable member of the International Trade Statistical Committee. He has served as a technical expert on technical teams on studies and High Level Task Force activities that were done before and after the inauguration of the EAC Customs Union. Pauline was instrumental in adaptation of ASYCUDA++ in Customs and Excise Department of URA having led a Team to Zambia Revenue Authority and gathered facts about the system performance in Zambia and presented a satisfactory report to the Administration.

He also participated in pre-budget preparations of amending and editing of the Finance Bill 2000/2001 in the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development in Uganda. He supported preparation of the draft Harmonized System Tariff Book at the time Customs was migrating from using CCCN classification to HS Code classification.

Pauline has working experience in countries he has worked including; Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, Mozambique, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Madagascar, Djibouti, Sudan, Oman, and Belgium.

Bintu Peter Kenneth

Tax Administration and Trade Data Analytics Expert

Peter is a multi-skilled analyst who is an International Tax administration and international Trade Data Analysis Expert.

Peter is a Senior Statistician. He has over 11 years of practical experience serving in various capacities in the corporate and trade consultancy space. Peter has facilitated and undertaken numerous research studies, trained and supervised Tax administrations and customs’ staff of various countries on Data analytics on the African Continent. He has consulted with EAC, COMESA and JICA. In his corporate journey, He worked with Barclays Bank of Uganda as a Management Information Analyst, worked with Diamond Trust Bank as Head of Clearing Department before joining Uganda Revenue Authority where he worked as the Lead Business Intelligence Analyst on the Data warehousing Project which was the first successfully implemented project of its scale in East and Southern Africa. He is also a lead performance analyst in Uganda National Roads Authority conducting surveys on transit time of trade across the network of Ugandan Roads. He has also supported projects building capacity of customs officers in South Sudan and worked on numerous Time Release surveys in Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Madagascar, Malawi, Djibouti, DRC and Sudan.

Peter is currently an International Trade and Performance Expert at Pride Data Solutions. He has served as a technical expert on technical teams on studies and High Level Task Force activities after the inauguration of the EAC Customs Union. Peter was instrumental in developing synergies between domestic tax administration and international trade through linkages in the data that created 360-degree profiles that have improved taxpayer compliance. He supported amendment of the Republic of South Sudan Single Administrative Document and was part of the team introducing the Harmonized System to South Sudan Customs Services and part of the team developing a database to automate trade statistics data-capture in the Republic of South Sudan.

Peter has working experience in countries he has worked including; Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Madagascar, Djibouti and Sudan.

Jovian Koire

Director Finance and Human Resources

She is the Director Finance and Human Resources at Pride Data Solutions. Her passion for having a poverty free and just world drives the inspiration in the entire organisation. She believes that socio-economic research and management consulting which are the heart of PDS mission generate knowledge for socio-economic transformation through impacting key actors which are civil society, private sector and government.

Jovian is decisive, strong and charismatic leader who has seen through policies at strategic level that can grow the company to international standards. Jovian is a leader in Uganda Revenue Authority in Customs Planning and Statistics. She holds an advanced degree of statistics from Makerere University and post graduate professional certifications in strategic planning and management.

Stephen Omojong

Director Corporate Affairs and Audits

He holds a Master of Business Administration of Makerere University as well as a bachelor of statistics from Makerere University. Stephen has vast experience in areas of data management, research and product development. He was instrumental in the introduction of mobile banking concept development and implementation in Uganda which has made an edge in reducing the cost of doing business through ICT. He has experience in Microfinance lending. His business acumen and experience adds value to the Board of PDS. He has experience in mobile based data collection, micro leasing, agricultural financing, value analysis, market research, strategy implementation and performance management. His wealth of knowledge and experience is invaluable to the Management Consulting, Research and M&E Units of PDS.  Stephen has worked for reputable institutions in Uganda including Uganda Bureau of Statistics, Pride Microfinance (U) Ltd, National Social Security Fund as well as at the Bank of Africa (U) Ltd. He is a board member, Director Corporate Affairs and Audit in Pride Data Solutions.

Daniel Otim

Programmes Manager

Daniel holds a Master of Business Administration from Makerere University. He holds a degree in Statistics from Makerere University. He holds a post graduate qualifications in monitoring and evaluation from Uganda Management Institute. His areas of expertise include project planning and management, monitoring and evaluation, socio-economic & scientific research design and implementation in thematic areas of health, agriculture, livelihoods and organizational capacity building.

Daniel has a wealth of experience having worked in capacities of Monitoring Learning Expert in Africa Innovations Institute; Senior Research Associate in i-train and Evaluate Center; Monitoring and Evaluation Manager in Mango Educational Enterprises, Northern Uganda Literacy Program;Monitoring and Evaluation Officer in Plan International; Research Assistant in World Vision; Data Supervisor in AIDS Information Centre.

Robert Masiga

Finance Manager

Robert Masiga is detail oriented, inquisitive and creative. His level of integrity is an asset to the financial stability and sustainability of PDS. Robert is straightforward and outspoken person who ensures that accountability is at the core of our operations. Robert holds a bachelor of statistics of Makerere University. Robert has an innate passion for figures, forecasting and data based planning. He delights in excellence at reasonable costs.

Robert worked with Micro Credit for Development and Transformation SACCO, National Social Security Fund and Uganda Bureau of Statistics. He currently serves as the Head of Finance at Pride Data Solutions.

Rogers Mubiru

IT Manager

Rogers Mubiru holds a Bachelor of Telecommunications Engineering and Diploma of Software Engineering, both from Kyambogo University. Rogers is hardworking and result oriented person. He prioritizes integrity, security and confidentiality of all data pertaining to projects undertaken by PDS inclusive of all administrative and management data.

Rogers has over five years of professional IT and management experience acquired working in Civil Aviation Authority in the IT department, Mpigi District Local Government, JES & E Technical services, Uganda Media Womens Association (UMWA/Maama Fm Radio station), Oriolec and ZTE. Rogers also holds a certificate of competence in finance and business management of Multitech Business School.
